Firewise works closely with Friends of Pacheco Valle and the Neighborhood Response Group (Block Captains) on common interests in our valley.

Firewise volunteers are from each area in Pacheco Valle – individual homeowners on Alameda del Prado, Oak Forest Road, Pacheco Creek Drive, and in Homeowners Associations from Hillside, Woods, Village Marin Meadows, Quail Hollow Ridge, and Quail Hollow Meadow.

Firewise depends on strategic partners in the Novato Fire Prevention District, Fire Safe Marin, Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, and from our largest neighbor, Marin County Parks and Open Space for guidance and professional work.

  • Reduce flammable plantings along Alameda del Prado - our only evacuation route.  Work will be done with the Novato Fire Prevention District, Marin Open Space District, Friends of Pacheco Valle, and the City of Novato. Replanting started in the fall of 2023.  Donations to Friends of Pacheco Valle are invited.

  • Encourage homeowners to clear all flammable materials in Zone 0, five feet out from the base of the home.

  • Inform neighbors of grant programs available through Novato Fire Protection District and the Marin Wildfire Protection authority for costs to reduce fire risks.

  • Maintain the natural beauty and wildlife in Pacheco Valle. Respectfully pledged by Firewise Committee members: Frank Bullentini, Larry Cacace, Joe Dillon, Ginny Hanna, Joanne Keenan, Cindy Lemesh, Jeanne MacLeamy, Paul Minault, Laurie Ozone, Neil Peterson, Kathy Schlegel, Lowell Smith, Gloria Dunn Violin, Tony Wicks, Patrick Woods, Kay White and Rick Hanley.
